Blarney Castle is a medieval stronghold in Blarney, Cork, Ireland. Though earlier fortifications were built on the same spot, the current one was built by the MacCarthy of Muskerry dynasty, and dates from 1446. The noted Blarney Stone, a block of bluestone, is built into the battlements of Blarney Castle and you will have a chance to kiss it on your Brendan tour. According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of gab.
